I’ve admittedly trailed off in writing here over the last half of this year, but it was for a good reason. I was in the process of finishing writing, along with my co-author Robert K. Elder, a book on Hemingway.
That book, entitled Mythbusting Hemingway: Debunking Hemingway Myths and Celebrating the Extraordinary Stories of His Life, is finished and available for purchase.
Hemingway is one of my favorite authors (the subject of my MA thesis) and getting the opportunity to write a book about him, specifically one that aims to de-bunk so many of the myths and misconceptions that keep people from engaging with Hemingway’s work, was something I relished.
It makes a great companion piece to Ken Burns’ documentary on Hemingway that was released in the spring of 2021.
Much of that documentary aims to challenge the myths surrounding Hemingway so that we can appreciate his great contributions to literature.
My book, co-written with Robert Elder, aims to really continue that work and push it even further.
Writing Mythbusting Hemingway deepened my relationship with Hemingway and his writing, which I hope shines throughout the book. I also realized just how much there is to Hemingway, because I performed this extensive research and digging into his biography and the historical record… and I still feel like I could go further and find out more.
You can order Mythbusting Hemingway on Amazon, Bookshop, and directly from the publisher. If you do, please let me know and I hope that you enjoy it!
With this project off the table, hopefully that will mean more writing here about music and basketball and movies and on and on…
Congrats on the book! Just ordered a copy, and am looking forward to reading it. I'm also happy to see you back on here (just in time for the NBA season to really get rolling!).
